Published, Professional Makeup Artist, Chanel Haughton, whose alias was initially “ProfessChanel,” graduated Empire Beauty School, in 2003. Her alias originated from her hosting platform, where she owned and engineered a female empowerment group in NYC called “D.I.V.A.S - Determined Individuals with a Vengeance to Achieve Success.” Her focus was to empowering women by creating a positive, healthy space to encourage self-motivation to learn from other successful, established female entrepreneurs, as they brunched at different restaurants across NYC. But her passion for empowering women did not start there, this seed was planted years prior with first empoweing herself as an aspiring model at the age of 15. Chanel enrolled as a student of Mable Bailey Modeling School, in Columbus, GA. She traveled for modeling competitions such as the Hilton Head Modeling Convention in Hilton Head, SC., and walked for major retail stores in her local and neighboring malls. Her pursuit of a modeling career was short-lived due to a lack of resources and visibility - living in a small town. However, this dream would have to wait as her need for financial independence grew stronger with age. By 16, Chanel was working as an apprentice of a nail technician who was a small, black- female business owner. The owner could not oblige her modest salary negotiation but in hindsight could not afford to pay her either. Although she confidently walked away with some new skills, this apprenticeship was short-lived due to improper business set-up. Nonetheless, Chanel was optimistically driven with ambition, motivation, and fearless; she was not discouraged and in fact, had bigger plans! Her initial plan was simple: she needed to leave this small town and relocate back to New York - and that she did! The morning after high school graduation.
By Fall, Chanel enrolled at Empire Cosmetology School, then known as the Learning Institution for Beauty Sciences (LIBS), while working as a second-shift telemarketer. Now, as an independent, 18-year-old, her need for financial independence matured into the need for financial stability. At this time, modeling in New York could become a reality but that didn’t come with a check. Money was (and will always be) the motive! After completing cosmetology school, Chanel went to work in a Bronx hair salon as a natural hair stylist. Knowing herself is knowing that her spirit has always pushed her towards what is most natural and familiar: her creativity. This natural-born talent would eventually afford her opportunities with a bigger platform and have her painting the city of New York. Makeup came naturally to Chanel, who was already a creative talent with a pencil, paint or crayons. In fact, she received a small scholarship, in elementary school, for winning 1st place in a D.A.R.E poster competition and was appointed to create the program cover the sixth-grade chorus performance. Familiar with the basics of art and fully educated in cosmetology, Chanel effortlessly became a self-taught makeup artist. She began freelancing her makeup services and was soon noticed by some prominent public figures and PR teams. The need to be solidified pushed Chanel to become certified, leading her to obtain makeup certification, as she continued learning from the artistic work of other prominent makeup artists, sharpening her skills and boosting her confidence to keep up with the beauty trends. Chanel thrives in her rite of passage and often states that she is “forever a student.” Her stamp in the beauty industry is a natural glow, which she self- proclaims to be the “Goddess Glow Queen,” providing this as a service. Her artistic vision is customized for each client, as everyone is unique. Achievements and accolades are as follows:

Chanel thoroughly enjoyed the art of creating and the visual aesthetics of beauty, so she never made an excuse to be subservient to the beauty industry. Chanel has worked with a number of talents/public figures/models/celebrities, all while getting social media recognition by some of your favorite celebrities, such as Karen Civil, Sunshine “Sunny Money Queens” Simth-Williams, Bobby Pen, Shamea Morton, Jessica “Jypsy” White, Briana Camille, Lisa Yaro and more. There are still names that she would love to work with, as well as makeup veterans that she would love to sit with but know that you can always sit with her.
